The following is the first in a series of client success stories that Wings is proud to share with our many supporters:
For much of her working life, Terry succeeded in remaining active and influential—both as a full-time manager at a major telecommunications corporation and as a local councilwoman. But then the unthinkable happened.
Her brother, who had been caring for their elderly, dementia-ridden mother in Louisiana, passed away suddenly in his 50s. Over the months that followed, Terry flew back and forth between Pennsylvania and Louisiana to tend to her mother's health and manage her affairs. The repeated trips wound up costing Terry her job. Eight months later, she also lost her home.
"I had to start all over again," Terry recounts. "My spirit was broken. I'm a very positive person but at that point, I was pretty depressed. It was a lot to take."
Nevertheless, Terry took steps to get her career back on track, including making a visit to Wings for Success.
"My first visit to Wings was unbelievably amazing," she says. "The women there treated me with so much dignity and respect. They didn't make me feel less. They didn't pity me. They surrounded me to lift me up."
Shortly after her visit to Wings, Terry got a job at a car dealership and then later took a position as a clinical administrator with Massage Envy. It was this job that inspired her to take a leap of faith and become a certified Reiki Master and spiritual healer.
In May 2016, Terry opened her own healing center in Chadds Ford. Today, she is busy teaching Reiki, meditation and all natural forms of healing. When she looks back over the past few years, she realizes how tragedy and hardship wound up leading her to her chosen calling. Wings for Success is proud to have played a part in her remarkable journey.
