Fall Fashion Trend: Pattern Play

This fall, take a tip from the fashion runways and play up your wardrobe with patterns and textures. From bohemian prints to polka-dots, the trend is toward bold patterns that make a style statement. Here are a few tips to consider when engaging in pattern play:

  • Balance patterns with solids and neutrals. Pair a patterned blouse with a solid-colored pair of pants or a skirt. Or take a timeless polka-dot print and mix in neutrals.
  • When assembling a weekend look, keep in mind textures from cable knits to fringe to a touch of studs.
  • Keep accessories simple!

Our Kennett Square Facility: Off to a Great Start

In January of this year, Wings opened a new facility in Kennett Square to serve the needs of women in southern Chester County.

Since then, the site has exceeded expectations and is on track to serve at least 125 clients by the end of its first year.

We want to recognize some of our valued partners, who have played a critical role in the site's growth and success: Dansko, the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce, and La Comunidad Hispana.

Young Wings Group Hosts Successful Fundraiser

Young Wings, a newly formed group of young women supporting Wings for Success, hosted a highly successful fundraiser this past June. The event was held at Spence 312 in West Chester and raised approximately $3,000. More than 60 attendees participated, enjoying great food and drink, live music, and a display of beautiful raffle items.

A special thanks goes out to our Young Wings group of volunteers for their hard work on this event.

Top 3 Ways to Support Wings

Wings for Success is able to assist women in need thanks to people like you who care about our mission and want to make a difference. Looking to better the lives of women and their families? Below are the top 3 ways you can support Wings:

1. Register for Wings Fling. Our biggest fundraiser of the year, this event combines inspiring stories from Wings for Success clients with a silent auction, great food and drink, and more!

2. Donate to our wish list. Currently, our wardrobe closet is in need of handbags and new or gently used jewelry. To donate either of these items, please contact Diane Mills at 610-644-6323 ext. 4.

3. Donate funds. Wings uses all monetary donations very cost-effectively. A modest donation can go a long way toward outfitting a woman with confidence!

Volunteer Spotlight: Bonnie Blank

The happiness and confidence our clients feel following a dressing session is due, in large part, to volunteers like Bonnie Blank. This spring marked Bonnie's tenth anniversary as a Wings volunteer and client dresser. Previously, Bonnie served on our Board of Directors and has been a longtime member of our fall gala event committee. In addition, she assists Wings with consignment sales, especially jewelry, and has helped us make the most of the many fine jewelry donations we receive.

Bonnie has enjoyed watching Wings grow over the past ten years. Her greatest rewards have been our clients’ appreciation and the friendships she has forged with her fellow volunteers.

Wings Welcomes New Intern: Kay Garrity

Wings is excited to welcome Katherine (Kay) Garrity as our new intern. Kay graduated this spring from Towson University with a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing. She brings to Wings a wide range of marketing and community experience including internship and volunteer work with Boys Hope Girls Hope in Baltimore, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and Tiger THON at Towson. She will be lending her marketing savvy to Wings’ social media, our October “Wings Fling” event, and the activities of our Young Wings group.

Wings in the News

Check out the latest media coverage for Wings for Success and find out how we're continuing to make headlines:

On September 9th, Wings for Success was presented with a check from 100+ Women Who Care Chester County, an organization comprised of women whose generous donations are used to support charities that make a difference in Chester County. We are grateful to the members of this caring and powerful community of women for selecting Wings as the beneficiary of their generosity.

Client Success Quote

As usual, we'll let one of our clients have the last word:

“Soon after my appointment at Wings, I had interviews, and I ended up taking a part-time job and an internship. However, three weeks after I started the internship, the company offered me a full-time job. I had to take the opportunity and now quit my part-time position. It has been an overwhelming time but I start my full-time job next week. Thank you for all your help. The clothes really helped me to start confident."
