Summer Fashion Trend:

This summer, make a statement...while keeping things light! Here are some hot tips to help you face the summer heat in style:

  • Accessorize your outfit with one bold piece. Pair a bold necklace with subtle earrings and no bracelets or bangles. Less is more!

  • Tone down your makeup routine by starting out with an SPF moisturizer, which is especially important during long, sun-filled days. From there, apply a light brush of bronzer at the forehead, temples and cheeks to create a sun-kissed glow where the sun would naturally hit the face. Top off with a swipe of mascara and some lip gloss or light lipstick.

A Great Showing at the Spring Fashion Show

Thanks to the many friends and supporters of Wings who joined us for our second annual Fashion Forward show on March 21st at Immaculata University. Immaculata’s Fashion Merchandising Department collaborated with Wings to create a beautiful and inspiring display of fashions from local boutiques and designers, as well as clothing from Wings modeled by our own clients.

Great appreciation goes out to the event’s sponsors: QVC, Jane Mullany, CJ Shopping Tours, Horizon Services, The Kingstree Group, Countryside Consulting, Inc., and Monarch Staffing and to our emcee, Jennifer Lewis-Hall (WPHL). A wonderful time was had by all, and Wings succeeded in raising more than $16,000 to fund our programs!

Save the Date: Wings Fling

Mark your calendars for our biggest fundraising event of the year! Wings Fling (formerly called Merriment, Makeovers & Miracles) will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 6-8 PM at the Downingtown Country Club.

The evening will feature inspiring stories from several Wings for Success clients who have gone on to find workplace success—as well as a silent auction, delicious food and drink, and our ever-popular "wine grab"! Registration details to follow.

Wings Offers Business Workshops

Did you know? Wings for Success conducts workshops at places of business to offer guidance on appropriate workplace dress and behavior. If there are individuals at your workplace who could benefit from such a session, let us know. For a very reasonable fee, our workshop team can come to your place of employment and provide a customized workshop that's tailored to the needs of your employees. For more information, contact us at workshops@wingsforsuccess.org.

Top 3 Ways to Support Wings

Wings for Success is able to assist women in need thanks to people like you who care about our mission and want to make a difference. Looking to better the lives of women and their families? Below are the top 3 ways you can support Wings:

1. Register for Wings Fling. Our biggest fundraisers of the year, this event combines inspiring stories from Wings for Success clients with a silent auction, great food and drink, and more! Registration details to follow.

2. Donate to our wish list. Currently, our wardrobe closet is in need of handbags and new or gently used jewelry. To donate either of these items, please contact Diane Mills at 610-644-6323 ext. 4.

3. Donate funds. Wings uses all monetary donations very cost-effectively. A modest donation can go a long way toward outfitting a woman with confidence!

Volunteer Spotlight: Connie Rose

Longtime Wings volunteer Connie Rose was honored as Wings’ Volunteer of the Year at a luncheon held by the Women's Business Connection of Chester County in May.

Connie has served on our Board of Directors for several terms and has been a longtime client dresser and workshop committee member. Connie was also the founder of Wings Fling, which remains our biggest fundraising event. Her dedication to Wings was recognized with a citation from Chester County Commissioner, Kathi Cozzone (pictured at left).

Wings Recognizes Amazing Group of Volunteers

It takes a lot of people to keep Wings running...and we were pleased to be able to recognize and honor our dedicated team of volunteers during our Volunteer Appreciation event in May.

More than 60 volunteers attended the event, which was held at Temenos Retreat in West Chester. The event offered a great opportunity for all types of Wings volunteers—Board members, dressers, administrative helpers and committee members—to meet and mingle. Special awards were given to both five-year and ten-year volunteers. Food and drink were sponsored by our Board to show their appreciation for the volunteers who make this place work!

Client Success Quote

As usual, we'll let one of our clients have the last word:

“I am delighted by what was done for me today at Wings for Success. I feel much more confident and also very grateful not only for the clothes I received—pants, jackets, bras, shoes and accessories, but also for how I was treated. The hours flew by during my dressing appointment and I learned many new things. I felt supported and even spoiled by the women who assisted me. I'll never forget how great I felt that day.”
