Winter Fashion Tips: It's Sweater Weather!

Fight the chill of the dark winter days by styling your sweater so that it can transition from your 9-to-5 workday straight into your weekend or a holiday affair! These tips can help:

  • Wear a slimmer turtleneck sweater under a blazer or paired with a cardigan for the office. Throw on a long statement necklace or string of pearls to complete the look.
  • With a thicker, fuller sweater, wear a more tailored pant or slim pencil skirt for contrast.
  • Choose a flowy, longer sweater over leggings or slim pants. Add a belt to cinch the waist and create a more flattering look.
  • Don't fear printed sweaters! Aztec patterns and fun knits graced the runways in Fall 2014. With a solid pant or skirt, they can make for a very fashion-forward outfit.

So, bundle up in a sweater to stay warm and stylish this winter!

New Wings' Facility in Kennett Square

Wings for Success is expanding! Due to our remarkable growth, we will open a new facility in January 2015. Located in Kennett Square, the new site will make it easier for women in need in southern Chester County to get outfitted for workplace success. Ingrid Lis has been hired as program manager for the new location.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Ingrid is  getting to know our volunteers and how we work as we get the Kennett facility ready to open and serve clients. We look forward to working with her to expand our impact and make a difference in more women's lives.

Open House: Watch your email for an invitation to drop in for a look at our new Kennett Square facility on January 21, 2015, from 4 to 7 pm. If you'd like, bring a new or gently-used piece of jewelry to add to our inventory of accessories.  Come celebrate as we spread our wings in southern Chester County.

Makeover Day

On Thursday, December 11, several Wings for Success clients receivedcomplimentary hair and make-up sessions at the Pulse Beauty Academy in Downington.

"For the past several years, the students and instructors at Pulse have used their skills and talents to provide the finishing touch to Wings for Success clients," says Wings Executive Director LeeAnn Riloff. "This year, eight clients received this gift of pampering at Pulse."

As shown in this "after" photo, Pulse provides flattering makeup and hairdos to complement the apparel and accessories selected for our clients by the personal style consultants at Wings for Success. We are grateful for the ongoing support of Pulse Beauty Academy, and for the extra boost of confidence that Makeover Day gives our participating clients.
