Local Philanthropy Group Holds Fundraiser for WingsOn June 24, 2009, Caritas, a local philanthropy group, held a “Cocktails for a Cause” event in honor of Wings For Success. Over 40 guests enjoyed an evening of cocktails, food and fun and raised an amazing $3,500 for Wings. In addition to event ticket sales, Caritas raised money through donated raffle prizes. Prizes included tennis lessons, salon services, and more. Kelly Gladfelter, a Wings volunteer, spoke to the group about the positive experience she has had volunteering with the organization. In addition to describing the history and mission of Wings For Success, she shared touching stories of some of the clients she’s helped. “We are so grateful for the support this event has generated. I wanted to share personal stories of how Wings helps improve the lives of women in our community.” We would like send our sincere appreciation to all the ladies from Caritas who helped coordinate this event in our honor. A special thanks for Robin Grabko for opening up her home to host the party! About CaritasCaritas was formed in 2008 by 6 local friends interested in sharing with those in need in Chester County. Caritas, Latin for charity, was founded on the notion of charity through creative compassion. To date, the organization has helped such local charities as Project Linus, Chester County Cares food cupboard, Safe Harbor Women’s Shelter, the SPCA, and Wings For Success. The founding members of Caritas include Stephanie Cost, Julie Elicker, Lorrie Fetrow, Shar Gigliotti, Robin Grabko and Melanie Matthews. |
