Spring Fashion Tip:
Wear 1 Dress in 3 Ways

Ask Ashley Meyers, Main Line Fashionista and guest QVC host, and she'll tell you that all of us can get more out of our clothing simply by learning to wear one item in multiple ways. Take a simple cotton dress, for instance, which can easily be turned into three distinct looks.

For a casual look, pair the dress with sneakers and a baseball cap. This provides a nice alternative to wearing jeans and a t-shirt while running errands on the weekend. For a more polished look, accessorize the dress with a scarf or belt to change the look entirely (think brunch with the girls.) Finally, layer a cardigan or kimono over the dress and add boots—a great look for dinner out with the spouse. Don’t be afraid to have fun while you're experimenting! Spring Fashion Show Is Nearly Here: Register Now!

Fashion. Wine. Hors d'ouevres. A high-end raffle. It's all happening at Catwalk for Wings, our annual spring fashion show that is free to all who register. Held on April 4th from 6-8:30 PM in the stunning Van Cleve Pavilion in Paoli, the show will highlight casual spring styles on models dressed by local boutiques—all of which are women-owned and support causes that are women-focused.

Deborah Van Cleve has assembled the runway, the models and the partners who are showcasing spring's hottest styles. This event is different from any we have held in the past and is a great way to connect friends with the mission of Wings. Spaces are limited so be sure to reserve yours today!

Tickets are going fast for our Wine with Wings fundraiser. Attendees will enjoy food, entertainment, and of course, a selection of delicious wines from 1723 Vineyards in Landenberg, PA. New this year— live music and complimentary valet parking! Event details are below:

This Mother's Day, Give a One-of-a-Kind Gift to Someone Special

Looking for a unique way to express your love and appreciation for a special friend, sister, mom or mentor?

Between now and May 12th, every donation of $25 or more made to Wings in honor of someone special will help provide a woman in need with professional attire for a job interview.

If you make your donation before May 8th, we will send the person you are honoring a special card in the mail to arrive before Mother's Day, letting them know how your generous gift in their honor is helping women find employment.

If your donation is made between May 9th-12th, we will send your honoree an email, recognizing your gift and its impact on the women we serve.

What better way to honor a special woman in your life than by lifting other women up!

Sharing the Joy of Wings with Friends:
Carmen's Story

Wings is proud to share with you the next installment in our client success story series:

To appreciate Carmen's story, it helps to know a bit about the relationship that Wings for Success has with local community partners. Collaborating with these partners allows more women to be connected to our services. One such partner, Kennett Area Community Service (KACS), facilitates a program called “Getting Ahead,” in which individuals learn about different resources in their community to support their success. Students of Getting Ahead attend a special graduation ceremony to recognize their accomplishments and their commitment to the program.

Carmen, a student in the program, reached out to our Kennett Square Program Manager to schedule styling appointments for some of her fellow graduates so that they could receive outfits for their graduation ceremony. Carmen had been a client in the past and her positive experience with Wings for Success inspired her to share our services with other women in need. Thanks to Carmen’s connection with Wings, 13 women from the KACS Getting Ahead program received multiple outfits appropriate for both their graduation ceremony and their place of work. Following Carmen’s appointment, she told Wings:

“I've always been able to obtain stable jobs but never really had the income to be able to keep up with nice work clothes so coming to Wings helps me out greatly." She also raved about her stylist: "I mentioned to my stylist that everyone in my office wears scarves and I'd love to ‘grow up’ and wear one every once in awhile. Well, I wore a new shirt and scarf yesterday and received so many compliments. I really can't thank you all enough. I will be coming again towards the end of the year.”

This story demonstrates the impact that one styling appointment can make in the lives of the women served by Wings for Success. Because of Carmen’s previous experience with Wings, she not only returned for more clothing for herself during her time of need, but she also referred many other women to experience Wings for themselves.

Volunteer Spotlight:
Audrey Warnoker

At the start of the year, Wings received a phone call from Lauren Warnoker with some exciting news: her daughter Audrey (pictured second from left) had selected Wings for Success for her spring Mitzvah project. According to Audrey: “I think it is important for every girl and woman to be able to feel her best from the inside out. I also think it is important for women to have equal opportunity in achieving their professional goals.”

On a recent day off from school, Audrey arrived at Wings with her friend, Hailey, and spent the afternoon helping us steam clothing and organize our reception area and accessory room.

With contributions from friends, family and members of her synagogue (Beth Chaim in Malvern), Audrey collected much-needed items for Wings including purses, accessories and gift cards. “I was honored to have the opportunity to be involved in this special organization," said Audrey, "and I hope to continue to be a part of it.”

Wings is grateful for young women like Audrey and welcomes mothers and daughters to consider how they might be able to empower vulnerable women in their communities.
